My son and I on the Houfeng Bike Path, which meets the Dongfeng Bike Path not far from this point. We’re between the small towns of Houli and Shihgang in eastern Taichung county. The two paths were built after the government ripped up some spur lines to the area. After the rails were removed, the paths were paved in. Lovely, easy riding under shade on level lanes, and this section here cross the bridge and then enters a 3.6 km tunnel. Cool. So who’s riding on the blogs this week? Neil Wade on

My interest in GPS gizmos has come to an end. When I received this Garmin unit as a gift two or three years ago, it was a fun gadget. It put cool lines on a Google Earth map to show where I’d been. After yesterday’s ride, I wanted to go out and do about 100 km, but I got started too late and didn’t want to exhaust myself as I plan on going out again tomorrow. Monday won’t be a rest day. I felt pretty good and started to pace myself, even though I rode the first 25 km in 34:40. The other thing which made me reconsider going for a longer ride was that I almost had two accidents. Well, one was only a spill, but I didn’t fall. I’m not used to the clip pedals, and didn’t get out of them
